TWO BIG EVENTS TO ROUND OFF 2018 AT THE NORTH YORKSHIRE ROAD RACING SUPPORTERS CLUB

On Friday,30th of November the North Yorkshire Road Racing Supporters Club holds its Annual Awards Dinner, in which the efforts of the sponsored riders are recognised across a whole range of categories,from Best Newcomer to Best International Rider.

Guest of Honour at the evening will be Eurosport's Matt Roberts, so that means there will be a chance to review all the action and gossip from BSB and World Superbikes and there's sure to be a mention of MotoGP as well.

The schedule is to meet at 7.30pm with the food served at 8.00pm. (Followed by the chat with Matt and then the Awards.)

Not long after, on Tuesday December 4th, the Club ends the year in style when it welcomes back Leon Haslam,but this time as British Superbike Champion. And joining Leon will be his legendary father (and mentor) Rocket Ron Haslam. It would be easier to list what Ron HASN'T done in motorcycle racing such is his vast experience. He has won four British Championships, two World Titles in TT F1 and TT F3 and won the 1982 F1 TT. Since "retiring" from top level competition Ron has focused on running his popular Race School at Donnington Park and supporting Leon's career.

Leon has been a great supporter of the NYRRSC over the years. As has often been mentioned, Championships have eluded Leon as he kept on moving up through the classes to keep improving rather than ticking off title wins. His 2018 British Superbike Championship win was his first title since winning the British Scooter Championship at the start of his career. Leon has spent time in the Grand Prix paddock but most of his career has been spent in BSB and World Superbikes. He was runner up in BSB in 2006,2008 and 2016 and of course missed out in 2017 through no fault of his own despite going into the last round with a sizeable points advantage. That 2017 disappointment was a big motivator for this year's success; Leon wanted every win possible to try and get that Championship sorted before the last day, Showdown or not...

Leon has also had 5 wins in World Superbikes,finishing runner up in 2010 to Max Biaggi and in fact won his last regular race in the series for Aprilia at Quatar in 2015. After that he returned to the UK on a Kawasaki and has built a great relationship with the Japanese manufacturer, winning the British Championship for the JG Speedfit team and will next year return to World Superbikes in the Kawasaki KRT Team alongside four times World Champion Jonathan Rea.

Venue is,again, The Golden Lion Hotel, Northallerton. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start. As well as the guests been on stage there will be plenty of opportunities for photos and autographs as well as a raffle. Entry is £15.00 (£10.00 members)
